SMITHSONIAN ACQUIRES ARCHIVES OF DEALER ANDREA ROSEN, MONICA KING OPENS NEW GALLERY IN TRIBECA, AND MORE

Monica King announced that her new gallery at 39 Lispenard Street in Tribeca will be inaugurated by an exhibition dedicated to multimedia and performance artist April Marten. Featuring still images, sculptural installations, and a video work of the artist’s performances, “Frances Wasn’t a Saint” will run from September 6 through October 12.

“It’s long been my intention to open a gallery space that encourages collectors from all walks of life to approach art with an unmistakable sense of curiosity,” King said in a statement. “My vision celebrates the vital contribution that contemporary art brings to our collective society and to each of our individual souls.”
