Taylor Anton White included in Daily Collector's "20 Painters Who Are Shaping the New Decade"

A never-ending mishmash of painterly modes and American culture defines Taylor White’s work. White’s paintings capture the frantic western zeitgeist of a fake golfing, birthday party loving, drone striking, astroturfing, wrestling, pizza loving place. Each painting is a whirlwind of social ideas and diverse processes wrangled together into an identifiable and iconic aesthetic vision.

Outrageous titles like FAKE ZOO (FAKE) or Fake Golf (Intimate) suggest connections between seemingly disparate activities, locations, and ideas. White’s work, at times filled with FAKE ZOO (FAKE)’s googly eyes is an indictment on life’s inherent absurd moment.

Fittingly, White’s work has grown a sizable following on Instagram that rivals some TV personalities. White’s social media rise is indicative of what power he holds as a popular messenger for contemporary art in the coming decade. His work will be on view in a solo exhibition at Monica King Contemporary in New York that opens on January 31st, an exciting moment for the Virginia based artist who deserves New York’s attention.

Taylor White lives and works in Richmond, Virginia. Recent solo exhibitions include venues such as LC Gallery, Brussels; Galerie Kremers, Berlin; ADA Gallery, Richmond, Virginia; G Gallery, Seoul; Marquee Projects, Bellport, New York; and TWFINEART, Brisbane. The artist has also been included in group exhibitions at California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, CA; Galerie Kremers, Berlin; TWFINEART, Brisbane; and BEERS, London. White has participated in the Cycamore Artist Residency in Brooklyn and Espositivo 7B Residency in Madrid. He earned his BA from University of Mary Washington in 2017.
